WHAT IS INCLUDED IN YOU CANCER FUND SECTION ?

Im trying to offer a wide variety of all my products to be donated. So far I have offerered Hard Core Lip Bombs (vegan lip balm), a wide variety of Soild Baller Fumes (vegan solid perfumes) for him and her, vegan Uber Boss Lip Gloss, and vegan Scuffed Up Lip Scrub (sugar scrub for lips). I I am very excited to be selling black "FUCK CANCER" bracelets made from recycled silicone. Also, I have 1"in pin back buttons with the Madd Style logo on it that are only $1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCT IN YOUR LINE?

Lately I've been digging the perfume sprays... in my hair! The scent lasts all
day long and doubles as a shine spray! However, my complete and absolute
obsession will forever be my Hard Core Lip Bombs. Even tho I only need to
reapply about once every few hours, I keep them EVERYWHERE! There's atleast two
in every room in my house, one at work, one in the car, SIX in my bag!
Serisously... it's insane.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR MO LOVE?

Anything and everything! I want to do it all! I am definitely dreaming up more items when it comes to expanding my cosmetics line. I also want to get back to sewing, even if it takes up all of my time, it's a passion that I will never be able to let go of! I guess just stay tuned, magic happens daily in the world of Madd Style. ♥

Wow it was so much fun - I got to paint a live model and my original paintings were on display for the show. My friend J.Terry was my model (muse if you will) and he was perfect. He spent hours getting painted wearing nothing but his undies! Thanks JT! Several local artist and some great models put a lot of time into the event and MARINA WILLIAMS of ART POOL GALLERY did such a great job hosting and putting together the whole thing! FUN FUN FUN ...next month is the MAD HAT party! Ill be there!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Often I am inspired by snippets of concepts. It's almost like they tumble in my brain for a while, ideas for a drawing, or a couple drawings and sometimes the ideas start to stick together... it might be a phrase I read, a bit of a conversation I heard, a dream from the night before, some really good music, a new weird animal I have never seen, a request that someone brings to me for art... and I let these things stay inside of my head... not sketched, not attempted, until I feel ready to put them on paper.

And when I do finally get to drawing, sometimes things that may have been intended to be single concepts merge into one, the lines and words I head and read become little hits of text that weave into my art. Just a bunch of fragments that take a long while sometimes to find a home. I am sure my brain is full of these things I see and hear and a lot of them are patiently waiting to end up in my drawings.

WHAT MEDIUMS DO YOU USE TO CREATE YOUR WORK?
I used to labor over each drawing I worked on so much more than necessary because of the mediums I chose to work in. For instance, I used a lot of watercolor and I was always in danger of ruining a piece of art if I applied too much of something, or not enough, or the wrong colors. A project could end up a water logged mess.

I love mixing color and line work, but I prefer to keep things contained and lacking the chaos of wet mediums. So now I use a combination of ballpoint pen, and various acrylic paint markers. You can do all sorts of painterly things with them... blends, builds, fixes, cover ups... and it is all applied like ink. It helps me get my ideas on paper faster and with the luxury of working from anywhere in my home, or almost anywhere off site.

WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL FAVORITE PIECES?
In the last year and a half, or so, I have really been pushing myself to explore more color play, more rendering and more ways to combine the various ways I like to attack a piece of art.

I enjoy working with cut paper, manipulated prints of my work, and stamps. When I was facing the construction of art for a large solo show in the beginning of summer, 2009, I wanted to push myself to use all the methods I enjoy and apply them to subject matter that I love. I ended up making a series called CREATURES of the DEEP... a lot of my favorite animals drawn and hand manipulated without digital tricks, or too much planning. The squid drawing is from that series.

I have also been working on a series called I FEAR THE EIGHTIES. A tribute to characters and icons form my childhood that I think would be fun to warp and make creepy. The Smurfs and Ewoks drawings are from that series.

Also earlier this year I was asked to make the art ad poster for a Christopher O'Riley concert that mainly focused on the music of Radiohead. I love Radiohead and love making with themes based on their music, but for this project, I dangerously only had a day and a half to make art, construct a poster layout and get the whole things approved. I had been working on the concept in my head for a long while and when it came time to make the art I really gave it all the energy I had. The results are one of my best experimental drawings and I am so happy it all worked out.

A FEW WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR ART?
Some people write journals, keep diaries, or make bogs and that is their way of clearing their mind of things they need to express. I use my art like that. I like to make immediate expressions of what is going on in my head. Fast paced, not overly inspected blasts of art. Sometimes I have a whole lot of ideas that fit together and I attempt to tend to them all at once over the course of a day, or two and other times I chip away at something in quick sessions until I think it is done.

And when I make art, it is about having fun and committing it to paper. I am not a person who fills his work with symbology and subtext. I just like being playful. I disallow myself to do much, if any prep work before making a drawing. I just jump right to final art with barely any pencil under structure because it creates an adventure. It promises that I will have some mistakes, or come up with some strange experiments, and I love it.

ANY WORDS TO LIVE BY?
If you are an artist and you truly want to let other people into your head, or let them know that you seriously love doing what you do, prove it with art. No snappy statement or adjective ladened text accompaniment is really going to say what you want it to say.

But if you keep at your craft and constantly challenge yourself, you will over time produce a large body of work... hopefully one that you are proud of. And a massive history constructed simply from your art speaks volumes. If you want people to find you, leave them a trail of your art. If it is vast and interesting enough, you will be surprised to see who finds you.

The choice for my first feature was an easy one. I find myself daily staring at the amazing work of Donna Rose. She is an artist from Montana who paints the most wonderful floral pieces. TUCKER TRIES THE DOG PARK

Meet Tucker!

He is an old grumpy german pointer and he is fitting in perfectly! When we first rescued him he was very thin and had patches of raw skin on his chin and face. He was a wreck! But we fixed his skin with a mixture of lavender and almond oil I had made by NATURESMUSE on etsy. He is putting on weight slow and steady and he is now so full of energy and life that the younger dogs have a hard time keeping up with him! "Grandpa" is a sweetheart and I'm glad he is a part of the family!

So ... Tucker and the dog park... Tucker seems to take his HUNTING DOG bloodline to heart! We have a huge open dog park with great big oak trees and pines. Thats his hunting ground. He can sniff out a lizard or even a snake in no time! He goes sniffing around and all the sudden leaps on a snake and comes runing back with it in his mouth! The dogs meet lots of new friends there and sniff alot of bootie. Fun ha !

So my first attempts at ACEO's ... after lots of talk of an ACEO TRADE on the MMG BNR i decided to give these little pieces of art a try. At first I was so frustrated working with such a small size (only 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches). I finally sketched out two designs and mounted them on some great textured scrapbooking paper. I am very pleased with how they turned out! I choose some holidays in July to celebrate. One aceo is an UNCLE SAM sketch in honor of the 4th of July... and the other is July 6th: FRIDA KAHLO's birthday. I hope to get better pics of each up soon! rainy summers in Florida don't make for good photography. This is my latest custom creation! DON'T BE KOI

I painted this bag in about 6 hours. Took a brand new green faux snake skin bag (a New York and Co )that i found at a thrift store for $8! Brand new tags on and everything!

I went with black, mustard yellow and shades of green. I love the textured look of the scales. i used the bags own snake skin pattern to help with that. And I went for green bubbles of color instead of the traditional cherry blossoms or waves cause... well, idk why I just did! Ha!

The art was inspired by on of my tattoo artists- Hiro from japan. He did the big piece on my left leg at a tat convention in 2007. Find him at http://cotton-pickin.com/ .

Well... I did it again! Another rescue dog! This one is happy and healthy he just overstayed his welcome with his owners new girlfriend:( Sad but he is now a welcome member of my growing family. Its like the animal kingdom in my house!

So here is the deal:

Hi my name is Heather... and I am a coffee -aholic.

I am not proud of this, but it has become the harsh reality of my life. I cannot function at work or school with out that first cup of coffee. If I could take my coffee intravenously...well let's just say i have a problem. Lucky me- I have a STARBUCKS down stairs at work. So every morning I walk , zombie like, downstairs to get my fresh cup and start my day.

A friend gave me the lecture "Starbucks is ruining the world" and advised me of the following~

-our Starbucks cups are not recyclable

-I use 5 of these cups a week, 20 month, 240 year

-I am ruining the environment

So here is the solution: I can either give up coffee(would get fired), bring it from home (not the same), or start thinking...

I did some research.

I am going to start reusing the cups! I will wash out and reuse same cup! yay! and i found a great etsy seller to help with another solution! Those little cardboard skirts for the cups aren't the best thing either... and its not so cute...

I bought the hottest heels to paint! I started with a favorite theme of mine... snakes! so the shoes are almost done! what i need to know is this: should i make a listing to sell these kicks using a foot model? Do you wanna see someone elses tootsies in your shoes? Do you really need to see what they look like on a foot?

Hmmmm help me out!
